Apart from kitting out cars on the outside, I also dabble a little into ICE - In Car Entertainment systems. Since I love driving so much and since spend more hours on the road than in my own bed, I thought I'd make my journeys more enjoyable. In keeping with being incredibly indecicive, I find that I cannot decided easily on the music I want to listen to. I started of by having a single cd stereo which lasted all of 5 minutes. Then I migrated to having a 6 cd changer mounted in the boot. This lasted about 10 minutes. Then moved over to a 10 cd changer. This lasted about 2 years, so it wasn't too bad. Until I found that networks exist for incar cd changers. An adapter allowing connection of up to 10 cd changers to one unit.

Don't worry, I only bought a second changer no more. That lasted another year but now its just got out of control. I currently have 3 cd changers mounted in the boot of my car giving me a choice of upto 30 titles to choose from at any given second. But music wasn't the be all and end all. I had to push it to another level. Introducing the world of Mobile Media, thanks to a sizable gift from my best mate, an Alpine CVA-1005 6.5" Monitor found a home in my dash. This hooked up to the 3 cd changers, I added a DVD (Digital Video Disc) movie player to the collection. But, its only a single disc (oh no!). But, it doesn't stop there. Those long journeys have the bore take away with the help of the movies, but for the really bored, I have installed a Sony Playstation as well. This is absolutely brilliant for waiting for the laydees, now they can take as long as she likes getting ready! Since I travel a lot to places all over the country, and the fact that I hate standing still, I would much rather learn new routes to get to my destination, I decided to get yet another addition to the mobile media - GPS Satellite Navigation. This is absolutely brilliant, I even use it to get out of the Tescos car park. What a trick! So now I have a moving Cinema and games room.

So, aside from In Car Entertainment, I would like to get more into Home Cinema, but that just costs an absolute fortune. I will have to wait for a while after I have paid off this car with all its gadgets. Unfortunately, my hobbies and interests are a little expensive to maintain, so I will have to be alittle pocket friendly for a while. The only other interest I have that doesn't cost money is playing snooker. I am well into my game when I am not working on cars or at the office. Its supprising that I actually get any time to play snooker these days. One of my new years resolutions for 2001 is to save money and spend less on entertainment and more into relaxing and investments that will save me a buck or two later in life. But, well, your only young once huh!

My next project. Although I dread to think about it, it is to re-build a 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 to 2000 spec. I am looking at damaged cars that require complete re-build and gutting. I love wires and electrics as well as the body shopping. But this requires a lot of time, a big garage, and money. But thinking about it, the car will be worth a lot once it has been updated and re-built. Watch this space.....
